What is a facelift?
A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that surgically removes the excess loose skin on your face and neck that occurs due to increasing skin laxity as you age. With a facelift, you can achieve a more youthful appearing face with better-defined contours.
During a full facelift at the private surgical center at Best Impression Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Hsu makes incisions starting near your temples next to your hairline. Its proximity to your hairline makes these scars easier to conceal. The full incision extends in front of your ears, around the earlobe, and into your scalp. This allows Dr. Hsu to both remove excess skin and tighten the support structures underneath for optimal lift and support. The facelift minimizes features like jowls, facial wrinkles, and prominent folds.
After a full facelift, you will wear a compression dressing for 24 hours. Dr. Hsu will see you the next day to change your dressing to a compression chin strap. All stitches are removed in 7-10 days, and you can resume your regular routine at about 2 weeks. You should avoid strenuous exercise for about 1 month. The results for a full facelift usually last around 7-10 years.
What is a mini facelift?
A mini facelift is an alternative to the full facelift that specifically treats skin laxity on the lower half of your face.
During your mini facelift, Dr. Hsu makes similar incisions as a full facelift. Using these incisions, Dr. Hsu removes the excess skin to tighten the contours of your lower face.
Patients with mild or moderate facial excess skin and laxity can be candidates for a mini facelift. After a mini facelift, you will wear a compression dressing for 24 hours. Dr. Hsu will see you the next day to change your dressing to a compression chin strap. All stitches are removed in 7-10 days, and you can resume your regular routine at about 2 weeks. The results last for about 3-5 years.
